In the present work, Pioneers of the Old Southwest, the reader will find a chronicle of the dark and bloody ground, which is a narrative founded largely on original sources, that being the writings and journals of pioneers and contemporary observers, and on the public documents of the period as printed in the colonial records and in the American archives.
