Sometimes reading poetry is like listening to the Iran hearings; there's a suspicion of surreptitious activities, but you can't be sure. Greenway's poems inspire just this sort of suspicion, and sometimes we long for a way to crack the code. Not all poems are opaquelike secret agents, they've come in out of the coldbut others offer only tantalizing hints of meaning: "This is how to become old/ worry only/ about yourself./So that if there come/ bombs out of clouds/ or lovers into rooms, saying/goodbyes, learn/ how to cup your hand around it, as if/ in a world of wind/ there is this one candle/ that must be saved."
