NB -- This is not a CD-ROM. It is an electronic book on diskette. This diskette contains an English translation of four Arthurian romances by Chretien de Troyes, originally written in Old French in the second half of the 12th century. These romances are "Eric and Enide", "Cliges," Yvain", and "Lancelot." These served as the source of much of the material in later Arthurian works by Wolfram von Eschenbach, Malory, Lord Tennyson, and Richard Wagner.

About the Author
Chretien de Troyes lived and wrote in Champagne during the second half of the twelfth century. His patroness, the Countess Marie de Champagne was the daughter of Louis VII and of Eleanor of Aquitaine. He wrote is romances in eight-syllable rhyming couplets.
