About the Author

Devan Shepherd has more than 25 years of progressive experience in the Information Technology industry as a developer, consultant, solutions provider, instructor, public speaker, and senior executive. He has designed college-level curricula and taught XML technologies, HTML, scripting languages, Web development, and a wide variety of traditional programming languages at the college level. Devan currently speaks about XML at industry trade shows and runs his own consulting practice focusing on the delivery of e-business solutions, training and systems integration. He spent many years as Director of IT and Chief Technical Officer for various companies in the public and private sector, with extensive experience in the fields of health care, defense, banking, legal and medico/legal litigation support. A self-proclaimed "e-workaholic," Devan cherishes any available free time to spend with his wife and children pursuing decidedly "non-e" activities.
